Embracing Your Shadow Self

The show Legion inspired me to write this post about the shadow self. Our shadow becomes more powerful and destructive the more we repress it. Once you are made aware of the fact that you have shadow self (we all do) , you really have two options: A) Leave it locked away and go back to forgetting it's there, continuing to let the ramifications of ignoring it seep into your life and psyche, or B) Carefully open the door, learn to befriend your shadow, and come to accept that it is a part of you. So how do you open that closet door and begin shadow work? What works for me may not be what works for you, but here are some ideas...

This meditation came to be as a result of my own resistance to "going with the flow". Up until very recently I had myself fooled believing that I was a go-with-the-flow type of person, but during some shadow work I was blindsided by the fact that I am not that person - yet.
